The first round of the National MTB series was held on the weekend of the 1st and 2nd of November.
I had been hanging out for the first round of the National series for it seemed like for ages. We had been checking the weather forecast all week hoping it was not going to rain like last year.
Woke up on Friday morning and the weather was cloudy but no rain in sight.
It was all-in practice on Friday and I managed to do heaps of runs with Josh Button and a few other Elite riders, thanks guys!
Saturday the practice was split and with the amount of riders in Group B it was hard to do a full run at speed but I managed to do a few quick sections which was great.
Saturday night we went out to dinner with the SRAM guys, had heaps of fun, thank's Rob. SRAM also let me try out the new 09 Boxxers, they are so sweet certainly one of the best forks I have used.
Sunday the weather was not so great when I woke up as a huge thunderstorm had come through and it pelted with rain, luckily it passed round the track.
On Sunday the practice was all-in and I asked Sam Hill if he was keen to do a couple of runs with me, which he was I could not believe it riding with Sam, he even gave me a couple of tips, thank's Sam.
Finally my race run, I just gave it everything I had, made a couple of mistakes in the top section but the bottom section I held it together and crossed the line in a 2.05.69 which gave me the win which was fantastic.
Heaps of thank's to Mongoose, SRAM, Rockshox, Adidas eyewear, Fox, Trak cycles, Maxxix, Results Electrical, Lotek shoes and Crankbrothers.
Cheers to SRAM for letting me hang out with them all weekend and for looking out for me so much.
